How to Use Andromax LTE 4G Modem on Mikrotik

WiFi Modem (MiFi) Smartfren Andromax is a multifunction WiFi Modem sold by Smartfren which can be directly used by the user, either using WiFi or USB as 4G LTE modem. But the features in Andromax itself is quite limited, which can only be used for a maximum of 32 users and no user management, and bandwidth management. WiFi Modem (MiFi) Smartfren Andromax can be used on Mikrotik. There are several types of MiFi Andromax on the market, but not all types can be recognized by Mikrotik. One type of Andromax that can be recognized and used in Mikrotik is Andromax M2P.

Here I will try to explain how to use LTE Module from WiFi Smartfren Andromax M2P Modem on Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD.

WiFi Smartfren Andromax M2P Modem Settings

1. Connect M2P Andromax USB Cable to PC / laptop -> Install the Application
2. Open Browser -> Enter the IP Address of its MiFi -> 192.168.8.1
3. Login to Web Management Andromax with default user (if not already changed) user & pass: admin

4. Select the Settings menu

5. Log in Dial-up -> Mobile Connection -> Connection mode select Auto -> Apply

6. Enter the WLAN Basic Settings menu -> SSID Broadcast select Disable.

7. Go to the Connection tab -> Make sure Andromax is connected to the 4G LTE network.

Mikrotik Settings RB951Ui-2HnD

1. Connect the Andromax USB Cable to the Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD USB port
2. Login to Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD via Winbox
3. Go to menu Interface -> LTE. Make sure the LTE interface of Andromax is already installed and appears in the list. If not, try rebooting his Mikrotik and check his USB port on the System menu -> Resources -> USB

4. If the LTE Interface has appeared, he will directly connect to the LTE network without the need for more settings. We just change its name to ANDROMAX.

5. Create a DHCP Client so that Mikrotik gets IP Address from Andromax. IP -> DHCP client -> Add -> Interface select LTE Andromax, according to the picture above.

6. Do not forget to create a Masquerade NAT rule on IP -> Firewall -> NAT

7. If we want to share its internet connection via WiFi, first enable the wlan1 interface, please set as desired.

8. Make a Mikrotik Hotspot using MiFi Andromax we can do now. Please use the Hotspot Wizard with the interface used by LTE Andromax.

Note that not all Andromax WiFi Modems can be recognized by Mikrotik, only certain types that use Huawei Chipset, such as Andromax M2P. As for other types that use the new Qualcomm MDM 9307 Chipset until this article is created cannot be recognized by Mikrotik. MiFi types that do not support Mikrotik are:
