How to Send Automatic Mikrotik Backup via Email

Mikrotik Backup File is one of the important files that we must pay attention to. This file contains the entire Mikrotik configuration, which can save us when the Mikrotik device is damaged or suddenly the error request is reset.

Just imagine when suddenly Mikrotik damaged or error and must be reset, but we do not have a backup of its configuration. Already so we also forget or ga understand the previous configuration. If this happens it can be bad right?

It is also what I also anticipate because there are dozens of Mikrotik devices that I manage and there are some who began to break and replaced. With that many devices if you have to re-config one by one it’s a hassle too, not to mention config before it also forget-forget to remember:

Well, that’s why I try to make the system how Mikrotik can Backup configuration automatically then the backup file is sent to my email automatically every week. Actually in the previous article has also been discussed about this, but not to send email automatically. So this Mikrotik Tutorial is the development of previous articles about Auto Backup Configuration Mikrotik with Script and Scheduler.

Still, the same as the article, here I still use Script and Scheduler, but with the use of a more complex script.
Okay, before we start the tutorial How to Send Automatic Mikrotik Backup via Email, make sure the following things are met:

1. Mikrotik RouterOS has been upgraded to the latest version (at least RouterOS version 6)

3. Go to Menu System -> Scheduler -> add new Scheduler for the auto backup script. Parameter time and interval please you customize yourself. Here I demonstrate to do a backup every 7 days at 20:01 WITA which started since December 18, 2014.

4. Add more scheduler to kirimbackup script

5. Now we try to run the second script

6. To see what the script is not, open Files. If there is a backup file with the name BACKUP-IDENTITY-DATE format. backup means the auto backup script is successful.

 script utobackup
script utobackup

7. Check whether the kirimbackup script is executed successfully. Log in to the recipient’s Gmail email, check in the inbox if there is an incoming email whose contents are Mikrotik backup files.

8. You can repeat the above process for other Mikrotik devices so all your Mikrotik devices can send backup files regularly and automatically to your email.
