How to Install Ubnt Edge Switch?

What is a Switch?

It is a network connection device that performs switched data transmission. It is one of the network devices used to establish communication and connection between two or more computers. The switch is combined with a cable attached to the network card to establish communication.

What is an Ethernet Switch?

It is a network switching device that has many ports on the Ethernet switch. It is used to manage the network sharing and security access of devices connected to these ports. It can also be thought of as a kind of port replicator. It is possible to determine how much data it will have access to which port.

4. What is Industrial Ethernet Switch?

Industrial Ethernet Switches, on the other hand, are stronger devices that can operate in much heavier ambient conditions than the ethernet switches used in our homes & offices, for example at -40 +75 degrees.

Ubnt Edge Switch 16-port 150W Switch Where to Use?

These systems, which are generally used in data centers, offices, internet cafes, companies, systems where network products are used, and holdings, enable two or more computers to communicate with each other and to operate on the same file as a connection. You can use Ubnt Edge Switch 16-port 150W in such places.

Switches are devices that transfer each data to transmission channels in a separate way with the switching method. They can transfer according to which the device is attached to their port.

A PoE switch not only carries the network connection but also provides PoE power.

We will install Ubnt Edge Switch 16-port 150W, the logic is the same on other Ubnt Edge Switches.

Default credentials required to log in to your Ubiquiti Networks router. The default username for Ubiquiti Networks routers is ubnt, the default password is ubnt, and the default IP address is 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.20.

Let’s look at the explanations of the numbered selected fields above.

1.  In this area, it instantly shows us the total traffic passing through the Switch.

2. In this area, it shows us the total number of active ports on the switch as a percentage.

3. This area shows the status of the ports on the Switch.

  •  Gray marked ports are empty ports.
  • b) Green marked ports are active and 1 Gbps are seated ports.
  • c) The ports marked with orange are active and  100 Mbps are seated ports.

4. In this area, the total number of packets that pass during the time that the ports on the switch are active, reset the port by turning the power off and on, and the wheel-shaped part is where the advanced settings of the port are made.

Now let’s see how to configure the VLAN settings.
One of the most important things in a smart switch is configuring the VLAN settings correctly.

1. In this area, we choose the port that allows all VLAN to pass as the trunk.

2. This field is also 1 VLAN , which is the default VLAN . For this VLAN , it enables us to reach the switch by making all ports unlabeled.

3. In this field, we enter the VLAN numbers we want to create.

4. In this area, we make the port we want to pass the VLAN we created, tagged that port.

For example, we pass the 1004 VLAN to the 1st port.

5. In this area, we need to make each VLAN tagged for this port so that the VLAN we created can pass through the port that is in bridge mode.

For example, because the bridge was built on the 16th port. For the VLAN created on each port, it will also be tagged on the 16th port.

Now, finally, we come to the segment where we will make Ip and settings related to our switch.

As seen in the picture above, if we are going to select our Ip values as static, we select the static box. And we enter the desired Ip values. Also here we are entering DNS settings and management VLAN ID.
If we want to use UNMS, we can activate it.

Finally, we can check our switch-related settings on this page, too.
These are settings such as NTP Server settings, backup, restore, reset, locate the device, reboot device, upgrade firmware, and download spurt file as shown below.

I hope it was a useful article.
