In JavaScript, strings are stored as objects. Strings can be declared in two ways. The first one is by assigning the value within double quotes and the second one is by using the new keyword.

mystring=“Welcome to JavaScript”;

mystring=new String(“Welcome to JavaScript”);

Both the above declarations are valid and there is absolutely no difference between the two.

Calculating the length of the string

The length of a string can be calculated by using the length () method.

A style sheet enables the user to control fonts, color, and layouts. They enable web page designers to use standard HTML elements in a variety of new ways. A single style sheet can be used as a template for many web pages. There are two types of style sheets available namely :

• Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
• JavaScript Style Sheets

CSS is the static approach to specifying style and JavaScript is the programmatic approach. A CSS style sheet is specified as “text/CSS” and the type of JavaScript Style sheet is “text/JavaScript”. Although both types can be used CSS style sheets is the most widely used since almost all browsers support it.

Positioning an HTML block in a web document is known as a layer. A layer can be created in two ways :

1. Javascript positioning
2. CSS positioning

Javascript creates a layer object for each layer that is defined. Using the layer object you can write Javascript code to move, hide, expand, contract, and change the overlapping sequence of layers. Even new layers and the content of existing layers can be changed dynamically. Dynamic animations and self-modifying pages are also possible.

.NET and Java are two of the most popular programming languages in the world, both in existence since long and each powerful enough to compete with the other.

We researched for opinions of a few enterprises and found out that they prefer Java over .NET due to following reasons:

In 2006, Oracle made Java open source ­– which means no licensing fee to be given to Oracle to develop any software. On the other hand development in .Net may cost you money i.e. to develop a software in .Net you may have to buy visual studio that will cost you money, off course you can opt for free tools available but I’m sure enterprise wouldn’t prefer it owing to its limited features.
